Family Calendar is a free community service listing activities taking place in our listening area. It is a great place to promote your church activities, Gospel Concert, or community event. Family Calendar is aired three times daily at 8:15 AM, 12:10 PM and 6:30 PM. Events will be announced no more then two weeks before the start date, and will get aired at least once each day. KJAB does not necessarily endorse all items listed on Family Calendar, and reserves the right to determine which announcements apply to our audience.

The Vandalia Library will be offering a beginning Internet computer class on September 15. The class will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you need more information about the class or how to register, you can contact the library at (573) 594-6600. They are located at 309 S. The Mexico Library will offer a beginning Internet class on September 16, from 10:00 a.m. till 12:15 p.m. The library may be reached at 573-581-4939, and they are located at 305 W. Jackson St. in Mexico. You must register in advance at the library for the computer class.

Everyone is welcome to an old fashioned tent revival at Hopewell Baptist Church in Thompson September 8-12. The evangelist will be Monte Shinkle from Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Revival starts at 7:00 each night, and meals will be served at 6:00. Saturday's meal will be a BBQ at 5:00 followed at 6:00 with music from The Polston Family from Fulton. On Sunday morning, service will begin at 11:00. |

Effective Parenting in a Defective World is a 9-week DVD study taught by Pastor Chip Ingram. Southside Baptist Church in Fulton will hold these studies beginning Sunday, September 12th, from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Packed with practical advice, this series will give you a vision for your children's future and life-changing help for today. Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch will hold an Open House at Shiloh's Clarence, MO, site on Saturday, September 18. Tours of the homes are from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and from 2:30-4:00 p.m. A BBQ luncheon begins at 12:00 noon. The event's program will begin at 1:00 p.m. Visitors may talk with the children and staff, and a free-will offering will be taken. The Ranch has provided over 30 years of care for children. First Baptist Church in Vandalia will be hosting Living Proof Live, a simulcast featuring author and speaker Beth Moore. The simulcast will take place on September 18. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and the simulcast will last till 4:30 p.m. with lunch provided. Tickets are $25 per person. First Baptist Church is located at 213 N. Sugar Grove Missionary Baptist Church will be having a fall festival on Saturday, September 18. The festival will highlight a hog roast and carnival activities for the entire family along with a fine arts, crafts, and bake sale. Booth applications are available now, and the postmark deadline is July 1st. Only artists displaying original artwork or crafts are eligible to participate. No stand-in exhibitors, dealers, or agents will be permitted without permission from the SGMBC Festival Committee. The Daniel Boone Regional Library offers a variety events and services. During the first two weeks of September, they will offer many programs for children including Night-time Stories, Rhymes and Rhythms for Walkers, and Times for Twos. They also offer programs for teens, including a Regional Teen Photography Contest. Award-winning southern gospel group, The Inspirations, will be in concert at Presser Performing Arts Center in Mexico on September 26. If you like to hear the Gospel given in solid, traditional, four-part harmony, you'll love this quartet's music. The Inspirations' concert begins at 5:00 p.m., with the doors opening at 4:00. You are invited to enjoy an evening of southern gospel music with the Blackwood Quartet at First Baptist Church in Fulton on Sunday evening, September 12, at 6:00 PM. Formed in 1934 and based out of Choctaw County, Mississippi, the Blackwood name is legendary in the gospel music industry. The original Blackwood Brothers Quartet performed at churches, auditoriums, and other events through the years, and Mark Blackwood continues the tradition through the Blackwood Quartet.
